ORG government data protection plans are revenge against NHS patients

Where private sector businesses are granted access to NHS patient data, it should be to develop better treatments and save lives. Instead, the Open Rights Group has published an article outlining the full scope of the government's plans to sell off our medical records. These include better marketing for pharmaceuticals to raise drug prices, Insurance companies using data to raise premiums and advertisers advertising stuff to vulnerable people. While it's only natural businesses want access to more and more data, now that the UK government plans to overhaul our data protection laws, the barriers to entry will soon disappear along with accountability and oversight.
