Ofcom opens investigations into nine online service providers

Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator, has announced that it is to investigate the online discussion board 4chan, adult services provider First Time Videos, and seven other file-sharing services for compliance with the Online Safety Act 2023 (OSA)

The investigations cover a range of OSA violations, including allegations of child sexual abuse material on file-sharing services and whether appropriate safety measures are in place to protect children from illegal content and noncompliant age verification.
