NHS Federation publishes communications AI operating framework
01/10/2025 | NHS Federation
The NHS Federation has published a new operating framework to guide NHS communications and engagement professionals in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The framework is designed to promote trust, inclusion, and transparency while offering practical guidance on the responsible use of AI tools and applications.
The framework aims to empower NHS teams to advocate for safe access to AI platforms that can enhance patient engagement, improve efficiency, and drive more personalised communication. It is intended to serve as a shared foundation that local NHS communicators can adapt and apply in partnership with IT, IG, digital, and clinical colleagues. The framework will be regularly updated to reflect changes in AI technology and regulation.
