US lawmakers provisionally agree temporary Section 702 reauthorisation

US lawmakers have provisionally agreed to extend Section 702 of the US Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act for a limited period. The extension will be incorporated into the National Defense Authorization Act, allowing the controversial surveillance programme to continue until April. It is expected that both houses of Congress will approve the agreement before 15 December.
