Smartphone providers developing vaccination QR codes

A story in NBC news reports that Google, Apple and Samsung have begun working on quick response codes to hold proof of COVID-19 vaccinations on mobile devices. The QR codes that will be stored inside digital wallets on mobile devices will allow individuals to verify their vaccination records in one touch. Other than the codes requiring on-device storage instead of on a third-party cloud database, there is no information on what privacy protections will be included.
