One-third of data breach notifications are reported late to the ICO

A recent FOI request to the ICO has revealed that of the 21705 personal data breaches notified to the ICO since May 2018, only 14,365 were notified within 72 hours. This means 7340 incidents or one in three, were reported later than the allotted time under Article 33 of the GDPR.
