Meta uses PET to improve password security

Meta has announced that it is expanding its privacy-enhancing technology (PET) initiative to improve password security and preserve user privacy to passwords and other services across platforms. Private Data Lookup (PDL), which allows users to privately query a server-side data set, ensures that only Meta users can see the result, thus enhancing the privacy of user data. Meta uses PDL technology for data minimisation, which encourages using stronger passwords while minimising the information revealed to the server during the password precheck process.
