Liberty challenges the legality of the Met Police's Gangs Violence Matrix

Lawyers for Liberty and UNJUST have launched a legal challenge against the Metropolitan Police's controversial Gangs Violence Matrix. The database was first established following the 2011 London Riots as a watchlist for suspected gang members. Victims of the secretive database face exclusion from job applications. The challenge against the lawfulness of Matrix is based on the argument that it discriminates against people of colour, breaches human rights and data protection law.
