Two teens arrested in Kido cyberattack
08/10/2025 | Infosecurity Magazine
The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) have arrested two teenage boys in Bishop's Stortford on suspicion of computer misuse and blackmail following a cyberattack and attempted extortion of a London nursery group. The arrests followed a referral from Action Fraud concerning a ransomware attack on the Kido nursery group.
Reports suggest the threat actors, operating under the name "Radiant," attempted to extort £600,000 in Bitcoin after stealing data, including names, addresses, and photos of approximately 8,000 children, along with contact details for parents and carers. The hackers escalated the pressure by contacting parents directly and posting some children's photos on the dark web, although they later claimed to have deleted the data. MPS has confirmed the investigation is being taken seriously, with further inquiries ongoing.
