A new study by Report Fraud, a national cybercrime reporting service run by the City of London Police (CoLP), has shown that UK organisations experienced over 26 successful ransomware attacks per month last year, with SMEs disproportionately affected. The study reveals that 323 corporate victims sought assistance between April 2025 and March 2026.
Reported annual financial losses rose by 50% to approximately £270,000, though CoLP suggests this figure is likely an underestimate due to widespread under-reporting. Among the victims who disclosed their sector, manufacturing was the most targeted industry, followed by scientific and technical services and education.
