NHS in London issues urgent call for blood, disruption to last months

Following the ransomware attack on pathology lab services provider Synnovis, which has disrupted several London hospitals, the NHS has issued an urgent appeal for blood donors and volunteers to help mitigate the impact of the attack. The appeal for blood, particularly for O blood-type comes as doctors struggle to match patients' blood types as quickly as normal. 

The news comes as The Guardian reports that a senior NHS source confirms that the disruption for hospitals and GP surgeries will take months to resolve and that understanding how the hackers gained access will be key.
