Ministry of Defence cybersecurity incidents doubled in 2020

FOI requests reveal cybersecurity incidents at MoD contractors doubled from 75 in 2019 to 151 in 2020. The findings included “numerous” incidents of sensitive data being emailed to personal inboxes. Security firm Tessian CEO Tim Sadler said with remote working, “employees send company sensitive information to personal email accounts 38 times more often than their IT and security leaders expect,” leaving the information “vulnerable to (cybercriminals).”
