Meta to introduce Passkey authentication on Facebook and Messenger apps

In a blog article, Meta has confirmed that it intends to roll out passkey login support for its Facebook and Messenger platforms, offering users a more secure alternative to traditional passwords. The feature will enable users to log in via fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN code, significantly enhancing phishing resistance compared to SMS or email-based multi-factor authentication. Users can manage passkeys within the Accounts Centre settings. The move aligns with a broader trend, as nearly half of the world's top 100 websites have already integrated passkey support.
