ICO struggling to collect fines from companies

The ICO is struggling to collect the monetary fines it issues according to an FOI release. Last year it was reported that since 2015, around £7m (42% of the monetary total) remained unpaid.  In the latest update, of the 47 outstanding fines issued up to July 2019, the ICO has collected only one more outstanding fine, relating to Cambridge Analytica. £6.6 million, (39% of total fines) are still outstanding. The ICO's record since Jan 2019 is not much better with only 9 out of 21 fines reported as paid.
