ICO fines increase 1580% in 2020-21

New analysis conducted by law firm RPC has identified that the ICO issued £42m in fines in the financial year 2020-2021, as reported by Infosecurity Magazine. The £42m total represents a 1580% increase from the previous year. A large amount of the figure comes from the penalties issued against British Airways and Marriott International for their respective data breaches.
