Ofcom estimates Online Safety Bill preparations will cost £170m

Ofcom estimates that the cost of preparing and introducing the Government's new Online Safety Bill could be almost £170 million. The watchdog will require hundreds of new staff to fulfil their new regulatory role under the Online Safety Bill, which grants them new powers in telecommunications and broadcasting. A report by the National Audit Office praised Ofcom's progress in preparing for this new role.
