John Edwards warns companies about AI use and privacy

Information Commissioner John Edwards delivered the keynote address at techUK's Digital Ethics Summit 2023.

In a blog article outlining the key points of the speech, Mr Edwards warned that public trust in artificial intelligence (AI) could be lost in 2024. While acknowledging the benefits AI brings to businesses, Mr Edwards emphasised the importance of protecting people's privacy. He also stated that the ICO would take strong regulatory action when necessary, including imposing fines on organisations that misuse personal information or use AI to gain an unfair competitive advantage.
