Information commissioner updates DPDIB response

Information Commissioner John Edwards has issued an update to his previous statement (in March) on the Data Protection and Digital Information (No.2) Bill (DPDIB)

In the latest response, Mr Edwards stated that he is “pleased to note that government made some changes at the House of Commons Committee Stage in response to my comments,” however, the Commissioner cautioned that the majority of his comments remain unaddressed, specifically with regards the definition of high-risk processing. Mr Edwards goes on to say that some of the new clauses "amount to substantive new policy, " and that he had not been made aware of all the recent amendmentsOverall, the Commissioner said that he continues to support the DPDIB as improves the effectiveness of the UK data protection regime.
