ICO updates direct marketing guidance for public sector

The ICO has published guidance on direct marketing in the public sector. The new guidance aims to help public sector organisations understand when direct marketing rules apply to their communications. "If you work in the public sector, the law doesn’t stop you from sending promotional messages when they are necessary for your task or functions," ICO Director Anthony Luhman said. "However, there are times when the direct marketing rules will apply and we want to help the public sector get it right."
