ICO: small business guide to respond to data protection complaints

The Information Commissioner's Office issued a 6-step guide for small businesses that have received a data protection complaint. The steps include acknowledging receipt of the complaint, finding out the specific issue related to the complaint, providing updates to the data subject, recording actions taken in response to the complaint, formally responding to the individual with the outcome of the investigation, and reviewing lessons observed.
