ICO publishes results of Department for Education audit

The ICO has published the results of a compulsory audit on the Department of Education, which has revealed data protection was not prioritised, impacting the department’s ability to comply with data protection laws. The ICO said the department had accepted its 139 recommendations for improvement within the audit report, of which over 60% were classified as urgent or high priority. The ICO will continue to monitor the department and said enforcement action would be imposed if improvement schedules are not followed.
