ICO publishes its 2020-21 annual report

Elizabeth Denham has defended the pragmatic approach of her office during the pandemic as she publishes her 5th and final annual report as Information Commissioner. The ICO also reported that personal data breaches were 20% lower, from 11,854 in the 2019-20 financial year compared to 9,532 in the 2020-21 financial year. Of the reported breaches, 71.4% led to no further action, while 21.6% were investigated further.
