03/12/2025 | ICO

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has issued several enforcement notices and practice recommendations to public authorities for significant failures to comply with the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000.

Actions taken include issuing an enforcement notice to the London Borough of Enfield Council for failures in its statutory duties, and another to Cambridge Hospitals NHS Trust for missing statutory deadlines in responding to requests. The ICO also issued practice recommendations to the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Trust and the London Borough of Redbridge Council for poor response rates and overdue requests. Furthermore, eight practice recommendations were issued to Northern Ireland government departments for failing to publish required FOI compliance statistics.
