ICO fines two companies £370k for PECR violations

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has fined two companies £370,000 for illegal direct marketing under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PEC-Regulations).
- Thermotech Wall and Loft Surveys Ltd was fined £240,000 for making 575,062 unsolicited direct marketing calls to numbers registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), resulting in 132 complaints. The ICO found this to be a violation of regulations 21 and 24 of the PEC-Regulations.
- Jacksons Marketing Ltd (JML) was fined £130,000 for making 232,776 unsolicited direct marketing calls to numbers registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), resulting in 132 complaints. The ICO found this to be a violation of regulations 21 and 24 of the PEC-Regulations.
