The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has fined home appliance repairs specialist It's OK Limited £200,000 for making 1,752,149 unsolicited marketing calls over a one-year period to people registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS)—an infringement of regulations 21 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). Some of the calls reported to the ICO claimed the company attempted to mislead them into believing their warranties had expired. In a statement, Andy Curry, ICO Head of Investigations, said, "The actions of this company represented a sustained and exploitative campaign potentially targeting the most vulnerable. Pressure tactics, misleading statements and contacting individuals who are registered on the TPS is shameful behaviour."
