The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has fined four home improvement companies a total of £370,000 for contravening regulation 21 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). The ICO found the companies had made over 820,000 unwanted telephone calls to individuals registered with the telephone preference service (TPS), including the vulnerable and elderly, following an investigation that began in 2020. ICO Head of Investigations, Andy Curry, said: “These companies all aggressively pestered people, including some vulnerable individuals, forcibly trying to make them buy products that they didn’t need or want."

  • Eco Spray Insulations Limited made 178,190 calls to TPS registered people and was fined £100,000.
  • Euroseal Windows Limited made 169,830 calls to TPS registered people, was fined £80,000 and issued an enforcement notice.
  • Green Logic UK Ltd made 11,825 calls assuming the data complied with the law but did not check. The company was fined £40,000 and issued an enforcement notice.
  • Posh Windows UK Limited made 461,062 calls and was unable to provide evidence to support claims the data was compliant. Following its vague and contradictory responses to the ICO, the company was fined £150,000.
