FCA & ICO statement on direct marketing communications by pension providers
11/12/2025 | ICO
A joint statement by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) outlines how a new form of 'targeted support' under FCA policy statement (PS25/22) would allow regulated pensions providers to legally send direct marketing communications to customers, providing timely, relevant information to support decisions about their finances.
The changes will mean that the Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulations 2003 (PECR) will no longer be an obstacle for workplace pension providers looking to communicate important messages to members.
