Ireland’s Data Protection Commission announced on the 2nd of September to fine WhatsApp €225m. In its ruling, the DPC concluded that WhatsApp failed to provide adequate privacy information to users, as required by EU GDPR—to make privacy information available in an easily accessible form. As a result, it also failed to comply with the overarching transparency principle.
