Collaboration across departments is essential in order to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) systems successfully. In an article for the IAPP, Collibra Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Product and Privacy Amanda Weare writes that understanding the legal and regulatory landscape surrounding AI and its implications for our business is an important task, and one that cannot be done alone. Input from a range of stakeholders is necessary to fully understand the proposed use case, including its intended purpose, leveraged data, outputs, and other relevant factors. This input is critical for making rational decisions about the use of AI. The decision as to whether an AI use case is approved should not be made by the legal team alone.
