Summary of the proposed European Health Data Space Regulation

The European Commission has published its draft proposal for the European Health Data Space Regulation. Building on both the Data Governance Act and the newly proposed Data Act, the EHDS is one of nine EU data spaces identified in the European Commission's 2020 European Strategy for Data. The new proposal sets out a comprehensive set of rules for the processing of electronic health data, which the IAPP  unpack in this article, including the processing of data for primary and secondary use, its similarities to the EU General Data Protection Regulation, and more.
