ISO publishes a new anonymisation standard: ISO/IEC 27559:2022

In November 2022, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published a new data protection standard: ISO/IEC 27559:2022 – Privacy enhancing data de-identification framework. According to an IAPP-published article, the new framework is the result of a five-year effort and will play a role in establishing best practices for the reuse and sharing of data about people. The author discusses the framework's purpose and implementation, noting that "Industry, governments and regulators now have an agreed-upon framework to leverage for assessment and implementation purposes."
