In light of the fact the European Data Protection Board's (EDPB) Coordinated Enforcement Framework (CEF) action for 2023 is focusing on the designation and position of data protection officers (DPOs), the IAPP reminds DPOs that they must understand precisely how data protection authorities (DPAs) evaluate their role. To assist DPOs and industry professionals in enhancing their privacy programmes, the IAPP examined several key rulings that put the DPO role in conflict with their compliance responsibilities.
