DPAs consider if EU GDPR applies to clinical trial sponsors outside EEA

There is a significant variation in the way different stakeholders interpret how the EU GDPR applies to their data-processing activities. Surprisingly, this variance of interpretation also appears to exist among the relevant DPAs within the EEA. The IAPP asked several DPAs for their views on whether the EU GDPR applies to clinical trial sponsors outside of the EEA if it conducts studies inside the area.
