Possible bipartisan amendments for proposed ADPPA

The Information Accountability Foundation has published a blog article discussing how to amend the proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act (ADPPA) "without changing its design in a fashion that might make passage more difficult." The article explains that the IAF has developed ten criteria for evaluating the ADPPA based on considerations for consumer protections, data transfers and future-proofing provisions. There are also lessons that can be learned from the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that may help the US "avoid the GDPR conundrum" with its legislation.

Meanwhile, the California Privacy Protection Agency has doubled down on its opposition to the proposed American Data Privacy and Protection Act.
