Global Privacy Assembly announce Giovanni Buttarelli Award

The Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) has announced the creation of the Giovanni Buttarelli Award. The honour comes in memory of Buttarelli, the former European Data Protection Supervisor and a leading figure in EU data protection who died in 2019. The GPA said eligible award candidates are those who "demonstrated exceptional leadership or have promoted collaboration and/or partnership at a regional or international level" in privacy and data protection. "This Award ensures that (Buttarelli's) legacy and advocacy for international collaboration continue," GPA Chair and U.K. Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham said.
