Schrems judge-rapporteur on Article 49 derogations for data transfers

The Future of Privacy Forum looks at comments made by Schrems judge-rapporteur Thomas von Danwitz. During a conference on International Data Protection Day, von Danwitz said data transfers to third countries without adequacy standing could be done via Article 49 derogations in the EU GDPR. He added that Article 49 derogations should be explored more thoroughly and that they "are not so narrow that they restrict any kind of transfer, especially when we're talking about transfers within one corporation or group of companies."
