The Future of Privacy Forum and Brussels Privacy Hub have published a report on the "Brussels Privacy Symposium 2020: Research and the Protection of Personal Data Under the GDPR," which was held in December 2020. Industry privacy leaders, academic researchers and regulators discussed data protection risks and vulnerabilities around scientific research. A number of these risks have become apparent during the COVID-19 pandemic, including algorithmic learning and AI, cross-border access to data, and using sensitive data in research to counter bias and discrimination.
