Palantir's Federated Data Platform lifetime cost increases to £1.1 billion

The UK government has increased the estimated whole-life cost of the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) to £1.1 billion while revising expected financial benefits down to £808 million, according to an annual report by the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA).

NISTA attributed the cost increases to increased delivery at scale, while reduced benefit projections reflect updated rollout plans, refined data, and clearer performance insights. Values were presented in real prices for the first time, preventing direct comparisons with previous years.

NHS England stated the programme remains within its approved budget envelope, describing the expansion as a sign of confidence. Palantir noted the project achieved a green delivery rating, placing it in the top 20% of government programmes.
