In his first interview since taking office earlier this month, new Information Commissioner John Edwards announced the UK will take the lead in holding Big Tech to account. The article UK seeks leadership role in global privacy (£) is published in the Financial Times today. Within the EU, administering enforcement action is restricted by the one-stop-shop mechanism. John Edwards said, “As a single regulator, we can step in more, and in a fast-moving digital environment, that’s also important for innovation.”
