Anthropic launches dedicated cybersecurity AI model

Anthropic has launched a new cybersecurity AI model, Claude Mythos Preview, following recent data leaks involving the company's internal documents and source code. The model is currently available only to a select group of vetted organisations, including Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Broadcom, Cisco, and CrowdStrike. Anthropic is also in discussions with the US government regarding its potential use.

While Mythos is a general-purpose model, its specific capabilities in identifying and potentially exploiting cyber vulnerabilities at an inhuman scale have led the company to restrict its release. Anthropic stated that the software could reshape cybersecurity practices by enabling companies to detect vulnerabilities more efficiently than previously possible. However, the company warned that the technology could be harmful if accessed by bad actors.
