The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has announced a joint regulatory initiative and the launch of a new task force to address the poor handling of motor finance claims. This initiative is a collaboration between the FCA, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
Under the initiative, the regulators intend to share intelligence and use their combined powers to mitigate consumer harm. Targeted actions will focus on tackling unsolicited and misleading advertising, meritless claims, and instances of multiple representation. In addition, the task force aims to eliminate unfair exit fees.
