Study reveals responsible adoption of AI leads to better business outcomes
10/10/2025 | EY
A new global survey of 975 C-suite executives by EY indicates a growing divide between companies with advanced Responsible AI (RAI) practices compared with those that are lagging. The findings suggest a strong correlation between greater adherence to RAI principles and positive business performance.
The findings reveal 81% reported improved innovation, while 79% reported efficiency and productivity gains from AI adoption. In addition, 54% of companies reported boosts in revenue growth, 48% saw cost savings, and 54% employee satisfaction. To illustrate the point, those with real-time AI monitoring were 34% more likely to see improved revenue and 65% more likely to report better cost savings. On average, these organisations have implemented seven of the ten recommended RAI measures on the EY responsible AI journey (see full report).
Despite the benefits, 99% of surveyed companies have incurred financial losses from AI-related risks, with 64% suffering losses of over US$1 million. The average conservative estimate for financial loss stands at US$4.4 million per company. Of the most common risks, 57% cited non-compliance with AI regulations, 55% negative impacts on sustainability goals, and 53% biased outputs.
