The report highlights academic research that demonstrates methods for deceiving biometric systems, such as using masks, artificial fingerprints, or deepfakes, to bypass authentication. As reliance on biometric identification grows, Europol stresses the importance for law enforcement to understand these vulnerabilities. By researching and identifying potential criminal exploitation techniques, authorities can develop more effective and targeted countermeasures.
