European Commission suffers mobile infrastructure cyberattack

The European Commission has identified and contained a cyberattack on its mobile device management infrastructure that occurred on 30 January. While the incident was neutralised within nine hours, the Commission warned that the names and mobile numbers of some staff members may have been accessed. Initial investigations confirmed that no individual mobile devices were compromised.

In its press release, the Commission reiterated its commitment to cybersecurity and that it will review the breach to inform future security enhancements.
