European Commission not considerring AI Act pause

04/07/2025 | European Commission

Thomas Regnier, the European Commission Spokesperson for Tech Sovereignty, Defence Space and Research, confirmed at a press briefing on 4 July that the European Commission is not considering a pause on the implementation or enforcement of the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act).

"Let me be clear as possible: there is no stop the clock, there is no grace period, there is no pause," said Regnier. He went on to say that the "legal text and legal deadlines is the legal text and legal deadlines, there is very little that we can do about it. Now, within this limit, you will see, whatever we can do, we will do it to take the concerns of our industry extremely seriously."
