European Commission introduces AI cybersecurity Action Plan

The European Commission has introduced an Action Plan to tackle security risks while leveraging the advantages of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) in cybersecurity. 

Built around existing EU legislation, including the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the NIS2 Directive, the plan connects member states, industry, and EU bodies to strengthen digital infrastructure.

The Action Plan introduces several operational measures:

  • Evaluating AI models
  • Accessing advanced AI models
  • Testing AI for cybersecurity
  • Strengthening EU cybersecurity
  • Scaling European AI capabilities for cyber defence
