EU approves joint European telecommunications advertising venture

The European Commission has decided to allow four telecommunications companies to create a joint advertising venture, concluding the new entity raises no competition concerns within the European Economic Area. The advertising platform requires user consent in order to generate a code that brands or publishers can recognise when users visit their websites or applications on a pseudonymous basis. The platform will operate in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.
