US tech companies ask EU for simplest possible GPAI code

Euronews reports that several large technology companies, including Amazon, IBM, Google, Meta, Microsoft and OpenAI, have asked the European Commission to keep its forthcoming General-Purpose AI (GPAI) Code of Practice "as simple as possible" in order to avoid "redundant reporting and unnecessary administrative burden" when complying with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act). 

The final code was due for release on 2 May but has been delayed because of calls to keep certain consultations open longer than initially planned.
