Draghi calls for AI Act pause to determine risks
16/09/2025 | Euronews
Former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has called for a pause on the implementation of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act). Speaking at a conference, he stated that the regulation is "a source of uncertainty" and that its next stage, which covers high-risk AI systems in areas such as critical infrastructure and health, must be proportionate and support innovation.
Draghi noted that the initial rules, including the ban on "unacceptable-risk" systems, have been implemented without significant issues. However, he believes the next phase should be paused to better understand its drawbacks before proceeding.
