Concerns raised over lack of AI guidance as deadline approaches

The AI Office, which is tasked with overseeing compliance, indicated that it plans to release guidelines by early 2025 following a consultation on prohibited practices conducted in November. However, these crucial documents have not yet been published, prompting a spokesperson to assure that the guidelines would be available by the February deadline. Ella Jakubowska, the head of policy at the advocacy group EDRi, expressed concern about the lack of clarity, stating that the delay in publishing interpretive guidelines raises significant questions about the functioning of the AI Office and its potential implications for the enforcement of the AI Act.
